Mosquito Lagoon
Calm seas, sunny skies and a full day of motoring north. I love traveling early in the morning before the rest of the world awakens. Somehow I always though of the ICW as a narrow channel surrounded by McMansions and crowded with pleasure crafts. There are definitely areas that resemble that but so much of it is expansive and bordered with natural land. And the wildlife is mesmerizing to watch.
This morning we had the pleasure of having a pod of dolphins "play" with the boat. They swam in, around and under the boat. What a magical display! I may never tire of their "chattering".
We also had manatees pop up frequently along the Haulover Canal.
After traveling 24 miles we were ready to anchor. We settled in Mosquito Lagoon despite warnings about being "buggy". We figure with the cooler air and wind the bugs would be minimal. (So far so good), The anchor has plenty of rode and the alarm is set.
Best life - you bet!
