Golf and Baseball

Rain this morning kept us inside until early afternoon.  Lots of rain!  For hours!  It was good though since I managed to complete Brianna's birthday photo book before we headed out to adventure golf. Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf in Jupiter was perfect.  Few people, two courses to choose from, challenging putts and ice cream!  The only problem - lots of water.  The rain left many of the "holes" flooded and even some of the "greens" required putting through the puddles. Both of us landed our balls in this "stream".                                        A real fish tank.                                                  A play on Jupiter Inlet and its danger! Tonight we were able to enjoy a sprin...

Coral Cove Park, Tequesta, Florida

Image
Another beautiful morning and we found another beautiful park.  Plenty of parking (free!) at 10am (yes, we slept in a little bit) and a short walk to the sand.  Few people, sunny skies and a gentle breeze.  The parking area had clean bathrooms, water fountain and foot wash.  Even a playground for the kids.  Another place I would revisit. Just north of Jupiter Inlet there is a multitude of rock formations along the waterline.  Amazing what Mother Nature can conjure!   The sandy portion of the beach was actually quite steep making for a lopsided walk.  Along with deep sand - our walk of just over a mile was definitely a workout! Lunch, a short nap, a game of Cribbage on the deck and we managed to book a plumber to replace the furnace in Lincoln.  Not an easy task from so many miles away.  But fingers crossed, all will be completed by the end of the weekend. A fast game of Continental where Marc won easily and another day has flown by...

Riverbend Park, Jupiter

Image
Our choice this morning for a walk - Riverbend Park along the Loxahatchee River.  With more than 10 miles spread through 5 different trails, we had lots of choices.  So we chose randomly.  A great place to walk (even walking in circles!).                                                            Trails were crushed shells and very well packed.                                                                                A few bridges.                                  K...

Pine Glades

Image
This morning's walk - Pine Glades.  Just a few minutes west of us, it was a perfect spot to watch the sun burn off the dense fog.  And the angle of the sun - perfect for observing the millions (yes millions!) of spider webs that covered the foliage, fences and anything else that could be spun onto.  Very, very creepy.  Paul had a stick to knock the webs off the path so we could pass safely.  I didn't see any spiders though (thankfully). After a shower and breakfast we wandered by car checking out the area. Burt Reynolds Park - so-so.  Mostly used by boater's to slide into the ICW.   Porter Park - a little tiny beach set in a ritzy neighborhood.   The new Jupiter Bridge looks wonderful from the car!   Hobe Sound - down 40+stairs to a very calm and nearly empty beach.  And a nature center with a very knowledgeable (and I think lonely) docent that relayed excellent histories on every snake, tortoise, scorpion, possum a...

Dubois Park, Jupiter, Florida

Image
With the car packed and the boat checked, we headed to Jupiter for the next week.  Knowing we would be too early for check in, we headed to Dubois Park at the Jupiter Inlet.  What a find! Seeing the lighthouse from land - weird.  Remembering the chaos of crossing this "corner" on the boat allows me to really appreciate this spit of land!                                                                 Taken February 25 from Quiet Time.                                                       A lagoon with crystal clear water.  Not very deep but plenty of room for snorkeling, floating or just standing in the water.  ...
