To Panama City Beach

Image
Because we had hours to kill until check in at our next stop, I planned our morning route meticulously.  The plan was to follow coastal route 98 through to our destination.  First stop - Carrabelle and The World's Smallest Police Station.  So small we drove by twice before managing a photo! Then Crooked River Lighthouse where the "museum" was smaller than the condo we stayed in and warranted a pass for us. Cape San Blas Lighthouse in Port St Joe.  Cute little town where we managed to walk a bit around a boat ramp.  (With nice clean bathrooms!) Lots of bridges over the many lagoons and bays. Then a stop at Windmark Beach.  Nice walkway initially. Then a very long and hot path to the gulf. It had nice soft, white sand with only a couple people but it was HOT with no shade anywhere.  I let Paul sleep for an hour while I wandered. And then we crossed the time zone.  What?!?  So with all my meticulous planning - we were too early for check i...

Mashes Sand Beach

The morning misty view from the back balcony. For our morning walk we drove down the street to Mashes Sand Beach.  Destroyed by Hurricane Michael six years ago it is now slated for rebuilding.   More dogs than people (one lady had 5 or 6 dalmatians) it was pretty deserted.                                                    Someone "donated" chairs. After lunch we hung out by the pool and played cribbage.  Only a couple other folks were out in the sun with us.  Super quiet community. Tonight we explored Bald Point.  The first bit of park - good for fishing only.  The second parking a...

Sunrise and Sunset

Image
This morning we walked down to the very busy dock to watch the sunrise.  Lots of fishermen heading out for the day that promises to be beautiful.                                                          A posting of high water tides for each of the 4                                                              devasting hurricanes to hit the area. Because we had hours to kill before check in at our next stop, we decided to visit Horseshoe Beach.  Sounds lovely doesn't it?                                      ...

Cedar Key Walkabout

Image
Our morning walk took us through the southern end of the island.  A gentle breeze and 70 degrees - perfect for exploring. For our picnic lunch we drove to nearby Shell Mound Observation Deck.  A place that would not exist if the Native Americans had not piled up their oyster shells into a mound!  Very well done with beautiful and peaceful views. Cribbage on the deck, reading on the chaise in the sun and a very lazy afternoon.  Fred even stopped by for a visit!  The an after dinner walk around town and to the #`1 spot to view the sunset - G Street.   For such a small town (population 670) there is plenty to observe and lots of places to walk.                                        The Rolls Royce of golf carts (golf carts are VERY popular here!).                      ...
