Halifax Historical Museum, Daytona, Florida

Our morning adventure - Halifax Historical Museum.  One of the few things we have yet to do in Daytona it was a great way to spend a few hours.  Right on Beach Street, it was close and on a random Tuesday - just about empty inside.  Definitely worth a visit.  From Indian history to Spanish, Victorian, racing and all things food, there was a variety of exhibits to view.

 As a converted bank to museum, there is lots of room for the large amount of Daytona artifacts.   My favorites:

    

                                     Lurch from the Addams Family was a Daytona lifeguard!

                                    Actual mens 1930s wool swimsuits.  Imagine swimming in these!

                                        An alligator claw purse.  Everyone needs one1

                                    An actual rabbit from the original dog racing track.

                                    A very detailed model of the Daytona boardwalk.

After a quick lunch we headed south.  Fort Pierce is our next "layover" for a couple nights.

                                        The beach - wide and empty.

                      Our second floor airBnB looks out onto the beach with quick access to the sand.

Then back to Palm Bay for dinner with friends.  The Shack was right on the water and provided a true ocean breeze to offset the temps still in the 90s.

Good food, live music and good friends - priceless.  

Word of the day - plage.  Meaning the beach of a seaside resort.
