Tolomato River

This morning found us pulling up anchor in a brisk wind with a strong current.  We were ready to move on to our next stop on our way to Jacksonville.  Goodbye creepy neighbors!

Okay, so there was no one in this monohull.  However, we had to listen to her clanking all night long and her mast light shone.  So, goodbye to her ghosts!
There was a heavy police presence in the river between Matanzas and St Augustine.  Three different police boats with 4- 7 men, we kept to the speed limit!  Which actually just means no wake.  We haven't seen that many officers since Riviera Beach.  Moving on!
We passed by Downtown St Augustine with minimal traffic.  (Some tour boats taking photos of us but few real boats.)  A beautiful city with tons of history.  We have been here before so we skipped anchoring nearby.
Castillo de San Marcos.

The great cross erected in 1884 to commemorate the arrival of St Augustine in AD 597!

The bridge of Lions is a drawbridge with interesting architecture.  We couldn't actually see the lions but they are named Fiel and Firme, Faithful and Firm, Pax and Peli and Peace and Happiness.  (I borrowed this photo.)

By the inlet where the beaches were bright white.

And the ICW continued with nature on the west side and houses on the east side.

We anchored for the night in a spot with nothing (literally!) nearby.  Here is our view from the 4 sides of the boat.

We only saw a couple of dolphins swimming north quickly.  Hopefully the morning will bring more wildlife to watch.  Best Life = 5% angst (coming close to shoals while drifting in morning current) and 95% awesome (the remainder of our day!)
