Jacksonville Zoo

We arrived at the zoo as they were opening and were first in line for the giraffe feedings.

This is Faraja and she reminded me of Rupert - a very messy eater with a dirty mouth and lots of drool!

This is baby Willow and for some reason her tongue hung out continuously.

This is Ajay.  Poor Ajay is the only male with three available females and he never learned how to mate.  He came from a zoo with only males and hence never witnessed the ritual.  Zoo staff is hoping he figures it out since artificial insemination is not really an option.

There was a lot of attitude at the zoo.
Note the sign in the background that was conveniently ignored!

This guy was not going to budge for anything!

And then the surprise of feeding the Lorikeets!

And the reptiles - my least favorite.  First time for an Anaconda though.

There were multiple water featured areas.

Overall, very well thought out and planned.  Despite the heat (mid 90s) there was plenty of shade and most of the animals seemed adjusted.  Maybe not the black bear or jaguar but the others, yes.  The zoo was super clean with wide paths and lots of interactive exhibits.
