Historic Downtown Savannah
Today we spent on a trolley tour exploring historic downtown Savannah. There is so much history, so much to look at, and so many tourists! The ornate metal fences, balconies and rails are numerous and decorate every house.
There is also a seemingly race to have the most ornate and double front doors. Don't even try to keep up with the houses on Jones Street!
The churches, cemeteries and streets all have their own charm and beauty.
And then the oldest house with ties to Robert louis Stevenson, author of Treasure Island.
Chippewa Square with the statue of General James Olgethorpe (founder of Georgia). Better known for Forrest Gump and his bench (which was moved to a museum since people were trying to steal it!).
Still, it was pretty cool to be in the spot. And of course we had to watch the movie when we returned to the boat. Mom could not remember seeing it.
We stopped at an Italian restaurant for lunch.
