Keeping busy on Vernon River
The calm winds this morning prompted Paul to take out the bosun chair to climb the mast. When we had the boat inspected the steaming light, used for night travel, was not working. Since we have not traveled at night it has not been an issue. If we decide to venture out into the ocean to finish going north, we will need the light.
The harness is attached to two different safety lines to prevent an accidental slip. They are then in clutches to prevent loosening. Hoping the light bulb just needed changing, Paul found the problem is a little worse. A new light is needed. Ugh!
We defrosted the freezer again since it is nearly empty. I transferred everything to the small portable freezer.
By mid afternoon we were stir crazy and decided to take the dinghy out for a ride. We headed up river to check out where all the shrimp boats dock.
Lots of dolphins and check out the dog on the floating mat!
Ribs, rice and peas for dinner. (I found the ribs in the back of the freezer!)We attended a class about rigging - all the cables holding the mast and all the sheets (ropes) holding the sails. Different sail types was also discussed. All well worth our time! Can never know too much. And Fred was interested too. He kept walking by the door trying to hear better!
