Lists
Back to the list making. We are headed to the marina in the morning and need to use our time wisely. We have booked 14 days and hoping not to be there longer than that. A to do list: Find a captain; have the dinghy motor inspected (it started running really rough on the way back from our potluck dinner) and thankfully it is still under warranty; rebuild 2 water pumps; replace our screens and shades in the hatches (obtain materials and fix on passage?). We have a grocery list, a random Walmart list, hardware store, thrift store (DVDs and books). We have a list of touristy things to do and a menu for when my mom and Maddy arrive this week!
I need to do laundry! It has been 4 weeks since we have been able to do laundry. Ugh. I have had to hand wash a few things (unmentionables) but the hamper is full. Hopefully there will be some cleaner water north of us and we can resume making water. Just in case though I have had new unmentionables delivered via Amazon to the marina.
I need to scrub the boat inside and out (thank you Fred!). With water at a premium, I have only vacuumed and swept. Occasionally I have used the dew to wipe off bird doodoo. I preferred to save our water for drinking, cooking and showering.
We spent a good part of the morning researching anchorages north of Savannah with tides and trouble spots. It is very time consuming. The tentative plan is to do approximately 20 miles a day to complete the 400 miles in 4 weeks. Each stop has alternative anchorages in case there is no room or the wind is in the wrong direction or it is not as advertised. Plus there are places where I want to explore ashore and get fresh fruits and veggies. And we need to allow time for potential crappy weather.
I was awakened last night around 1am with what I thought was lightning. Nope. It was a huge barge being moved upriver. At that time it was still 76 degrees with 96% humidity. Ugh. Took me awhile to fall back asleep. The day topped off at 96. I spent a lot of time in the water. The dolphins continue to come check out the boat a couple times a day with the tide changes.
