More elephants and a dog
In honor of yesterday's trip to see the elephants, I thought I would revisit the elephants of my past.
We enjoyed many trips to zoos, the Big E and the circus. Places where a glimpse of the bigger world can be seen and the multitude of animals that mesmerize. What magnificent animals God created!
My favorite elephant was Fanny. A long time resident of Slater Park in Pawtucket, we would bring her crushed sugar cones from our jobs at Newport Creamery. No wonder she was eventually put on a diet after transferring to Texas!
Our trips to Roger Williams Park & Zoo almost always included a trip to the dog statue. Sentinel is 172 years old and was sculpted after a mastiff who saved his family from a house fire in 1849. Iconic!

This was one of my favorite trips. It was Christmas Eve day and we needed some outdoor time and space to run. We had the zoo to ourselves and the docents were happy to see us!
