Rain(bows)
Today’s blog is inspired by Isis. She shared with chaos household (our group text
name) a double rainbow witnessed after today’s rain. It reminded me of a quote – If you want the
rainbow, you have to deal with the rain.
For so many years if I planned a party, it would rain. It was a running joke that if we wanted rain,
just plan a party. I wound up being
really good at moving my parties indoors.
Eventually we became the 30 percenters and parties were held outdoors
again. Life lesson – check the weather
forecast but don’t always believe it and have the party anyway!
Rain while on vacation was never a problem. We loved playing games – cards, scrabble, Life, Monopoly and so many more. My favorite place to be during thunderstorms is Maine (in the house, not on the lake!). The sound rolling off the mountains makes it last so much longer. And rain on a metal roof is a nice way to fall asleep.
The most surprising storm we experienced was the 100 year flood in Ft Lauderdale in April 2023. Unbeknownst to us, we had gone down to the area to look at the boat we now own. We didn't think anything of the rain and headed out to dinner. When the restaurant we were in started to flood and sent us on our way, we were shocked at the amount of water on the roads. Many cars were already stranded and making driving even more precarious. We did make it back to the hotel safely. And we did eventually buy the boat!
There were many other storms and rainbows, each appreciated for its beauty. Life lesson - enjoy the rain and the rainbow!
