Random Thoughts
A day full of errands. We dropped off a bag of purged “stuff” at Goodwill. We are big believers in keeping it out of the landfill. Home Depot for another couple of gallons of urethane and sand paper. And a copy of a previous receipt for the palm sanders so we can register for the warranty (Not sure where the original one disappeared to). Bob’s for sneakers (I found some shorts, Paul came away empty handed). Walmart for a few groceries. The bank. All boring but somehow necessary.
We are “horse sitting” for the week while Megan is in
Maine. Breakfast went smoothly including their pills
(now inserted in yummy treats) and applying fly masks. In the past Moon has been a little difficult
in these processes. As they have aged,
their diet has changed and now require four meals daily. Thankfully Scott was home from work early and
helped out. I enjoy being outdoors and
taking care of their needs. I would so
rather muck horse poo than clean a bathroom or dust.
I came home from Maine with a head cold. I don’t feel horrible but the watery eyes and runny nose are annoying. My earliest sick day memories are staying home from school, watching Price is Right and being served soup in bed. When I had my tonsils removed at Lying In Hospital, my paternal grandmother, Mummu, stayed with me and ate my tapioca pudding. She was a registered nurse and kept the mean nurse from being mad at me for not eating it myself.
Scott and Rebecca took us out to eat tonight at Realli’s. A favorite restaurant, they are changing hands
and we needed one last yummy meal. A quick
game of Continental after where Scott won with a huge margin. A card game consisting of seven hands, my
maternal grandmother, Ma, taught me many years ago.
I have since taught the kids, friends and family. It is a favorite way to pass the time while catching
up with the kids and their lives.
And we have new lists.
A list of things to be returned to the boat. The plan is to leave Tuesday morning for
Savannah with our new hatch shades and screens, sail and bag, box of books,
clean linens and other random items. The
hope is to be able to fly down in November to start our next season.
A list of things we want to accomplish before we head back. Renovations
in Maine. Upkeep in Lincoln. Dentist, eye doctor, dermatologist. Friends and family we want to enjoy. Jobs the kids asked for our help.
