Faith, Hope and Love

Today’s sermon – faith, hope and love.  Love being the strongest.  This felt particularly appropriate since today is our 34th anniversary.  Yup 34!

Faith – firm belief in something for which there is no proof.  But I have seen the proof.  In the birth of my babies and all the babies where I worked.  In the beauty of the sunrises and sunsets and all the light in between.  The dew in the fragile morning spider webs.  The multitudes of flowers, trees and leaves.  The moose, deer, dolphins, sea turtles and all the other wondrous animals.  The sound of the waves, Fred singing and the roll of thunder through the mountains. The love of family and friends.  All proof that something bigger than us took the time to create a world that we can enjoy.

Hope – to want something to happen or be true.  Hope that we continue to be blessed and those we love feel blessed.  That the challenges presented to us can be overcome.  On good days, hope for more tomorrow.  On bad days, hope for better.  It seems easy to hope when faith is strong.

Love – strong affection and tenderness for another.  The ups and downs of married love but at the end of the day there is no one else I want to grow old with.  A mother’s love.  From the first “flutter” to always I don’t think there is anything stronger.  Family – they have loved us the longest.  Friends – they choose to love us.  And Father Charlie is right.  Love is the strongest and strengthens our faith and hope!
