National Grandparents Day
Grandma Scott and Maddy
Ma, my maternal grandmother, taught me to knit, play cards, color and most importantly – how to speak up for myself. She did all her chores in the morning so she could watch her soap opera – her quiet time – in the afternoon. Her telling me "If you get the chance, GO", has led me to travel to so many places.
Pop, my maternal grandfather, taught me to ride a two-wheeler,
play marbles and how to score bowling.
Mummu, my paternal grandmother, was an RN. She taught me how to make hospital corners on
my bed. I loved hearing her nursing
stories and what it was like to be a nurse in the 1940s and 1050s.
Memere Adam, Paul’s maternal grandmother, loved having the
kids visit and could listen to them chatter endlessly.
I always joked with my kids that I was not ready to be a grandmother. Then Brianna showed up with TJ in 2020. A quick decision to be Nana Kris which became Banana Kris with her mispronunciation (it didn’t’ help the boys mimicked her and kept at it!). She is energetic, imaginative, quick-witted, loving, kind, strong-willed, messy, entertaining, a voracious eater, funny and a perfect grandchild!
Maddie has arrived. We are taking her to Maine with us for the week. (Fenway is back with Megan). She has settled right in and is sleeping on my feet at the moment. The car is packed except our food and as soon as Paul completes his appointment in the morning with his primary doc, we are off! Finally!
