St Augustine, Florida

A beautiful but cold morning in Fernandina.  36 degrees but no wind.  The decision to proceed down the ICW instead of the ocean was determined by waves too high and a southeast wind.  But the ICW waters were calm and we were able to keep between 7 and 9 knots of speed.  We made 62 miles in 8 hours.

More white pelicans hanging out near private docks.

Creepy trees with a perfect reflection in the glass like water.

Cormorants hanging out on a piling.

                                                                A heron in the marshes.

A dolphin swimming next to the boat.

                                                     A lot of white pelicans!

More dolphins swimming under the bow of the boat.

Many more dolphins playing in front of the boat.

Herons hanging out in the trees.

                                            Somebody's blow up doll!

A bald eagle hanging out in the marshes.

                                                    Sunset at St Augustine.

We decided to grab a mooring ball in St Augustine since we all wanted hot showers and our water tank need to be filled.  After taking the dinghy to the marina and taking long, long, hot showers we decided to follow the lights and music.  Downtown has been decorated for the holidays and the festive atmosphere was impossible to ignore.  We wound up taking a carriage ride around the city.  And the best part - it is still 60 degrees here!

Beauty and Sprinkle were the horses from Ocala.  They are
headed home in the morning for a well deserved rest!
