Stuart, Florida
A perfect ending to a challenging week. We have arrived in Stuart and docked at a private dock. Just north of Marc, he has graciously loaned us a bed and made us a yummy dinner. And Bella is front and center looking for loving. Thank you Marc and Molly for dinner, use of your washer and dryer and the bed!
The day started in Vero Beach cold again in the low 40s. We made good time and despite white caps and a north wind, we made good time.
Herons nesting in trees.Despite wide open waters, the channel is only 35 feet wide and straying brings the chance of running aground. Fortunately there were very few boats out in this chilly Thursday.
We are squeezed in beside another boat in a 50 foot slip (we are 42 feet). Paul did a great job sliding in almost sideways. Dave, our host, has been awesome. He gave Paul a ride to the car rental, helped us take the mainsail, provided a cart for transporting the heavy sail to the car and was super helpful getting us onto the dock. He has agreed to allow the mechanics access to the boat to repair the motor and a few other issues. Thank you Dave!
The plan - drop off the mainsail at the repair shop, clean the boat and fix a few small problems and fly back to RI Saturday night.
