Stupid Toy Day
After spending most of yesterday with family, today we focused on the mundane. Paying bills, sorting through the weeks worth of mail and grocery shopping. When searching for inspiration on my mundane days, I check daily holidays. Today's is a good one.
Today is Stupid Toy Day. The first stupid toy we encountered as new parents - the bumble ball. Thank you Don and Kim.
When turned on the ball "bumbled". A constant random movement with humming. Megan absolutely loved this ball. She would put it in her mouth and wander around with it pulsating and trying to talk around it. Stupid toy!In 2005 Kevin asked Santa for a hamster. (Not technically a toy but falls under stupid.) A week before the holiday I purchased a hamster and asked Lucille to "hamster sit" while we ran to Maine for a week. We would be back the 23rd and resume responsibility. The hamster escaped. I went to a different store, purchased a new hamster and secured it the cage. Then the original came back! Restored in the cage and hell broke loose with only one survivor.
Danny and Scott mesmerized with the endless running on a wheel.Kevin named the survivor Nyacetha and that hamster was an escape artist. Managed freedom almost every night despite our attempts to secure him. He came back every morning though and slept in his cage. Smart enough to avoid our mouse traps and the dog. Stupid gift!
Legos. It all started with the giant legos and continues to this day with the smaller blocks but bigger models. I have stepped on more legos with bare feet, vacuumed many and even Cheyenne swallowed some and wound up with an intestinal blockage once. Stupid toy!
