Vero Beach, Florida

A gorgeous sunrise in Indian River.

We even witnessed a rainbow prism.

Despite the threat of high winds and rain, we decided to proceed south.

The trip was actually quite pleasant with misting rain occasionally and high wind and waves only at the inlets.  I spent the day mastering autopilot and trying to stay out of shallow waters.

I am a firm believer in "everything for a reason".  With an oily smell coming from the port engine and the starboard engine occasionally stalling, we needed a quick plan.  Our Captain's husband, who owns a marine service company, happened to be in the Fort Pierce area.  Once the marinas opened for business, Paul pled our dilemma on a marina in Vero Beach and they have accommodated us on their fuel dock for the evening (we promised to be gone by 8am).  This is highly unusual and have reinforced the spirit of the boating community.   Jack and his coworker met us on the dock and assessed the situation.  Yes the engines need work but we should be able to proceed to Stuart as planned.  The work will be completed after the holidays.

Vero Beach City Marina has been awesome.  We took lukewarm showers, filled our fuel and water tanks and disposed of our trash.  I even found two books in their library!

The plan - to proceed to Stuart in the morning.  Our dock share reservation has been confirmed and the gentleman whose dock we are using will be waiting to assist us.  Our flight home etc is TBD.
