Games

Scrabble is one of my favorite board games.  We played today with mom and she kicked our butts.  I managed to have no less than 6 vowels for 7 turns in a row.  What are the odds?  Sometimes with the kids we made it more interesting and put time limits on our turn - 30 seconds.  Lots of hours learning new words.

Funny note - the inventor was Alfred Mosher Butts in 1931.  With a name like that he probably loved words too!

My new favorite game, just acquired in the last few years, cribbage.  Mom won the game we played today.  She was on a streak!  I love it best when played with Karen or Marc.  The plays are serious and scores are added so quickly it demands concentration.

The inventor - Sir John Suckling in the early 17th century.  What's with the names!

Another new favorite - Hand to Foot.  A card game with matching and melding as a combination of Canasta and Rummy.  We need further practice before teaching others so we need to find Karen and Andy somewhere in the Bahamas!

Continental is our all time favorite and go to game with just about everyone.  Playing since I was a teenager, my kids learned early and we have passed it on to many.  Thank you Grandma Scott for teaching us!

High, Low, Jack - Paul and I enjoy this game while also people watching.  Great for two, great with a crowd.  Easy, peasy and never boring.
