Palm Coast
Today we headed north to Palm Coast looking for something new and different. Bing's Landing was a small park with a boat ramp and BBQ restaurant. After walking the perimeter of the park and the very short fishing pier, we entertained ourselves at the boat ramp. Watching the skilled turn around their boats in a constricted area and loading their boats with nary a sound is impressive. And then the opposite - watching the newbies try docking without hitting and loading only after multiple attempts. (Paul wound up helping one elderly couple tie off their boat on the dock after too many failed attempts.)
The beach is lined with Coquina so not really swimmable.
Lunch at Captain's BBQ was yummy and the view couldn't be beat. Watching people, boats and birds while facing the ICW and feeling the breeze - priceless. The food was good too!
After lollygagging a bit (and watching a few more boats) we headed to the beach. MalaCompra Park was a short ride over to the ocean and still in Palm Coast. The parking was free, the bathrooms were clean and the steps to the sand were sturdy. (Not all are since the storms.)

"Coquina is a rare form of limestone composed of the shell fragments of ancient mollusks and other marine invertebrates, which, over time, are glued together by dissolved calcium carbonate in the shells." (Google)
It was a nice beach to walk since the sand was firm and there were few people (all friendly). With the temp in the low 80s I did stick my feet in the water - still numbingly cold!
The plan - finish the newest painting project, wait for the mailman and continue to find new adventures.
