Read in the Bathtub Day
A slow start to our day since we were so late getting to sleep. Being Sunday, Paul attempted to locate an oil pump, but was unable to verify which stores actually have any in stock. So the task is pushed to tomorrow.
After lifting the sail across the dock, onto the boat, across all the lines and then up onto the boom, I am sore. (Paul also helped move the engine so he is probably more sore.) Once started there is no real stopping until the job is complete despite quaking muscles. Today there is residual stiffness so I had no compulsion to ride bikes or even take a long walk. Stretching and simple yoga hopefully will suffice.
Despite the setback of being unable to start the engine, I recognize that hanging the mainsail by ourselves is a huge accomplishment. Aside from the lifting, learning the hardware and how it all connects to raise the sail, is something we now know intimately.
Today is Read in the Bathtub Day. Read, I can do. Bathtub not so much. Hot pulsing shower feels better on the stiffness.
In the spirit of the "holiday" here are some of my favorite bathtub pictures.
