Smyrna Dunes Park

A bit of painting this morning followed by an afternoon walking.  A new destination - Smyrna Dunes Park.  On the other side of Ponce Inlet is New Smyrna.  The park at the very end of the peninsula was definitely worth a visit.  Clean bathrooms, easy walk on the boardwalk, an observation tower and few people.  The beach itself was clean, wide enough for traffic in both directions and lots to observe.

A scene worthy of Stephen King.

The boardwalk encircled the perimeter and made for a very enjoyable walk.  The view from the observation tower seemed to go on forever.  Kudos to New Smyrna for protecting the dunes and fauna while allowing access to the beauty.

We even managed to catch a gopher turtle out of his den.

The path to the fishing pier was just off the boardwalk.

This snowy egret was unaffected by our presence.
