Princess Place Preserve

Paul and I have completed another first.  Today, for the very first time, we were kicked out of a museum.  The Old Florida Museum in Palm Coast is a small replica of a pioneer homestead.  When I read the reviews there was praise for how much the kids loved it.  It failed to relay only school kids are welcome.  We had wandered through the first building when we were approached and told to leave.  Say goodbye to our donation.

Plan B.  Princess Place Preserve on the Matanzas River and Pellicer Creek.  Named after Princess Angela, who after her first husband died and second husband divorced, she married an exiled Russian Prince.  The grounds cover 2200 acres with multiple buildings.  Miles of hiking trails, equestrian trails, kayak launches, a venue building, clean bathrooms, plenty of parking and cottages for overnight guests.

The amount and thickness of the vines is astounding.

                                                        One of the kayak launches.

The main house with original furniture and decor but closed to us.
Apparently it is only open on the weekends.  Go figure.

Florida's first swimming pool fed by underground springs.
Did not look very inviting today.

It was a really pretty place and deserves a revisit when the weather is warmer.  Today was barely 60 with a strong, chilly wind.  It was very peaceful with few people, a couple dogs and a couple deer (who just stood on the side of the "road" without fear).
