Vintage

It was the perfect day for an extended bike ride.  On the last leg of our ride we stopped at a vintage store - Threads Vintage Emporium.  Not a very large store but chock full of crazy, unique and wacky objects.

It's Bella from the Big Apple Circus!

A confused queen                                A confused bride

Does the horn make her vintage?          Way older than vintage

What's cuter than a gaggle of smiling nuns?

                                                            A bathroom decoration?

Next door is Aura, a neat little coffee, tea and pastry shop.  Cute with great service and every imaginable flavor of tea and coffee.  It was nice to sit outside while sipping our drinks and watch the antics in the park across the street.

Our trip of 11 miles covered 2 bridges, some side streets, A1A, the beach and S Beach/Riverside Drive.

The beach did not disappoint.  A couple dolphins, a slight warm breeze from the south and only a few people.

The Sternidae, my new favorite bird with attitude and bed head.

One of these things is not like the others.  (I don't think he is aware!)

South Beach St/Riverside Drive is always an enjoyable ride.

This guy just hangs out by the water quietly.
So much so, I never noticed him despite riding
                                                 by dozens of times.

And I never noticed the Ormond Indian Burial Mound.  Facing South Beach Street on the corner of Mound Ave (of course!).  Home to more than 100 skeletal remains have been laid here after AD 800.  The bodies were initially stored in a charnel house nearby until they dried out and the bonepickers stripped the bones.  Ick!  This .6 acre "park" is directly in front of someone's house.  One owner actually tried to level the land and build a house.  (Talk about hauntings!)

I am looking forward to bedtime.  Riding 11 miles, 1.5 mile walk on the beach, cleaning the house, cooking dinner and heading out to pick up the car rental should complete my very full, last day here in Daytona.
