Beaches and Sharks

Today our picnic took place on Taino Beach.  Nice parking lot but crappy walk to the beach and even though the sand was soft and the water gorgeous, the surroundings were a little rough.  Just south of Smith's Point where we attended the fish fry last week, there were many boarded up shack/restaurants and litter.  We did enjoy the sun and I was able to walk.

Pirate's Cove with the colorful umbrellas has ziplining, water slides and plenty of water                                sports (Jet skis, water bikes, etc).  Open when cruise ships are in port.

                                        Another desolate, empty resort.

We then popped in at Churchill Beach.  Small and pretty.  We didn't stay long but I would definitely return if time allows.  Wyndham has an all inclusive just East on Fortuna Beach.  (Where all the people are crowded.)

The morning was spent at The Maritime Museum.  It was cloudy and spitting rain so being indoors was perfect.  Nuestra Senora De Las Maravilla was a Spanish galleon that had double that amount of treasure after having recovered goods from a salvaged wreck.  Then, when Nuestra Senora De Las Conception collided with her, she sank off Little Bahama Bank in 1656.  She is presently being salvaged by AllenX and shared with the Bahamian government.  Lots to see and learn.

The exquisite details on the ship!

Tonight we went to Pier One for snacks and feeding the sharks.  Pretty cool!

Even the birds managed to catch a few of the flying chicken parts!

The remora fish have rays that act like suction cups allowing them
to attach to the sharks and gain easy transportation, protection and
grab scraps of food.  Pretty clever!

I even managed to do a batch of laundry this morning.  I have the fastest drying clothesline!
