Whipping

As the sun sets in Manatee Pocket, we are enjoying dinner and a view.  The Pocket has continued to impress us as a peaceful and beautiful spot to hang as we wait for sailing weather.

Super windy today so we stayed put on the mooring ball.  The goal today was to clean out exterior lockers.  Some of them have original contents from when we bought the boat.  Not knowing what we didn't know, we were tentative to discard items that might have value.  Now I need more organized lockers.

This tangled mess of wet, rusted hodgepodge items that
came from one of the rear lockers that apparently leaks.

It has a drain plug that will now remain open.

A second rear locker had a tangle of dock lines and sail lines.

Both lockers are now clean, tidy and dry with no extraneous items.
(We saved the third rear locker for another day)

Since we were organizing dock lines, we wound up emptying the mid starboard locker.   I didn't even realize how deep it went!  Items in the far corner could only be grabbed withour extended boat hook.

After sorting, drying and whipping the frayed keepers, they were returned neatly to the locker.  There is so much empty space left after ridding it of unsalvageable items!

Since whipping the frayed ends required thread, it was determined to be a "pink" job (mine).  A quick YouTube view and I can now whip a line successfully!  (I saved splicing for another day!)

The plan - watch the weather, enjoy being on the water and pick another exterior locker to organize.
