A Quiet Mother's Day

Our visitor this morning!  A yellow-crowned night heron!

This year's Mother's Day has been much more enjoyable than last year (vertigo not my friend!)  I spent the day thinking of the kids (okay maybe I think of them every day) but I rejoice their independence and strength.  I am looking forward to celebrating when we arrive back in RI mid July.

The best part of being a mom - watching them grow and making life choices that help make them happy and proud.  Watching Megan be an awesome mom to Brianna and teaching her the values and skills she will use all her life.  Knowing they are lovable and loving and capable of anything!

The worst part of being a mom - worry.  It never leaves despite the fact they are adults.  Keep the faith and know I have done my best to protect and teach.

My best advice to other moms - remember everything is temporary - the tantrums, bedwetting, teenage sass, holding your hand to cross the street, goodbye kisses before school, bedtime readings and all the other joyous "stages".  Enjoy every moment!  Even the "awful" ones.

To my mom I say thank you!  For teaching me how to have faith and remain calm.  (Though sometimes I may look calm but am freaking on the inside!)   Were you freaking here?

To Ma I say thank you!  For all the times you spent knitting and coloring with me.  I still love to draw and color!  For inspiring me to travel and explore.

To Mummu I also say thank you!  I was a better nurse because of you.  I still make my bed with "hospital corners".  I think of you every time we listen to the Red Sox on the radio.

I spent the day here at the marina very simply.  A batch of laundry (dried on the lifelines because there are so few people to complain), a new batch of bread, a book, cribbage, periodic dips in the pool and relaxing on the "back deck" of the boat.  Good music.  Paul made yummy omelets for dinner.  Justin scrubbed our bottom.  Blessed I am!
