Old Bahama Bay Marina

We have arrived at Old Bahama Bay Marina in the West End, Grand Bahamas.  It is just as hot here with no breeze but stunning!

The first leg to our journey back to Florida, it was a beautiful day to sail.  Waves 2-4 feet initially broadside but then behind us helping move us along.  Moderate winds initially across our beam but after turning more north, winds on close-haul (just where our boat likes it!)  A truly successful day!

The marina is super busy being so close to Florida and many smaller boats come for the weekend.  When we arrived just before 2pm most slips were empty.  They are now all full and tightly packed.  There are fenders between us and our neighbors (3 feet away) just in case the winds pick up and we start moving around.  The docks are stationary so we have to leave our dock lines loose enough to rise and fall with the tides.

This is our front yard for the night!

The beach is beautiful but the water temp being 81 - just not refreshing!
It made for a nice walk (followed by a cool shower).

This is the very busy fuel dock where boats line up to
wait their turn.  Not us though since we use sails and take
our time with our smaller engines.

It felt good to be moving on the water again.  As much as I enjoyed Ocean Reef, it was the sailing and the movement on the water that sold us on this lifestyle.

The plan - leave early and cross the Gulf Stream.
