Scuba - Day 5
A gorgeous sunrise to start the day!
A simple day spent doing simple chores. Paul focused on his Scuba written test while I cleaned, read and sorted through pictures. (I have already completed my written "test".) Cribbage by the pool.
Then we had another pool session with Chesla. Finding our mask at the bottom of the pool and replacing it while filled with water and then clearing it while remaining under water. I failed . Somehow I continue to breathe in through my nose and choking. We moved on to the other scenarios.
While under water:
Losing and replacing our mouthpieces, two different techniques. (Passed) Saving each other by supplying our supplemental mouthpiece, rising to the surface and while holding the "victim", swimming across the pool. (Passed) Learning how to self inflate our BCDs (vests). (Passed)
Dropping and reapplying our weight belts. (Passed) The weights sit on our hips and just under the BCD so we have to lie horizontal on the bottom to buckle in place.
Taking off our BCD while continuing to breathe through our mouth pieces and then putting it all back on. Harder since without the weight of all the gear, the body wants to surface.(Passed)
Taking one breath and while slowly crawling to the other end of the pool, slowly exhaling. (Passed) Having our tanks turned off to experience the feeling of running out of air. (Passed)
And of course today being hot and humid, there were plenty of guests (more than I have seen in days!) in the pool and sitting by the pool. It definitely made for interesting swimming around them.
Two hours go by so fast when being so focused! We emerged tired and hungry.
My ears continue to feel blocked but clear easily, Sudafed is working well.
