Scuba - Day 6

Two last dives today.  When Chesla originally mentioned doing two dives in one day and finishing out our training, we both thought - what?!?  But we had faith in Chesla.  Even though she pushes us out of our box, she keeps us safe.

The first was a 60 foot dive to a coral reef.  Coral is fed by underground fresh water caves.  Who knew?  Tons of fish!  60 feet doesn't sound like much more than the 45 feet we already did, but we could not see bottom.  More turbid and a bit scarier.  I started close to the rope and wound up doing small circles and gradually getting further away.  The fish do not care how close we get to them.

                                                                Paul

Circling.  Keeping our hands to ourselves!

We each wound up wearing one glove to hold onto the rope that had fire coral attached.  (Paul did get stung unwittingly.)

                                                                Paul touching the fish.

Our second dive was another shipwreck and our max depth was only 44 feet.  (Only 44!)

We learned how to use the dive computers.  When and how fast to ascend.

And we are officially certified Open Water Scuba Divers!!!!  Both of us had doubts frequently through this process.  Thank you Chestla, Justin and Fred for believing in us when we did not believe in ourselves.  For assuring us we are capable and giving us the time and reassurances we needed to do what started as scary and ended as beautiful experiences!

We decided to celebrate with happy hour.

Several pool games...

And I did karaoke for the first (and only) time.  There was no audience other than AJ our marina "cruise director".  Perfect for a beginner!  Check off another box!
