Sketchy Beach
A yucky night. By midnight I was awake and in pain. My throat was on fire and I had severe post nasal drip. Swallowing was agony. (The throat pain sort of began last Friday night but I contributed it to the 2 spicy margaritas I had enjoyed.) Sweating I grabbed ice water and started a movie for distraction. When the chills arrived I knew a trip to an ER was my goal for the morning.
The intermittent fluid in my ears since scuba diving hadn't concerned me since there was no pain and usually cleared with either Sudafed or swallowing. Now that I also had an accompanying headache - time for a check.
We left in the dinghy shortly after our morning coffee and headed for what I will call sketchy beach. Next to the sailing club there are many dinghies haphazardly tied to random objects on the "beach". Paul locked the steering wheel and grabbed the keys and we walked less than a mile to the ER.
St Mary's was clean, relatively organized and we were out in 3 hours. Diagnosis - bilateral ear infections and pharyngitis. The thought was I had something brewing before I started diving and the water and pressure made it worse. Great. Antibiotics, antihistamine, and nasal sprays. Uber to CVS and then back to the boat where I promptly fell asleep.
The city was hot and crowded and loud. Back on the boat we are enjoying a nice breeze and the only sounds we hear is water and our rigging rocking with the wind.
The only other task I accomplished was sorting through the hundreds of pictures I have taken and beginning the thinning process.
My favorites:
January 2025 -Brianna and her giant meatball!
March 2025 - The borderline rude, crazy macaw at Jungle Island in Miami.
April 2025 - The Junkanoo dancers at Pelican Point in the East End, Grand Bahamas.
The plan - leave West Palm tomorrow morning if I manage some sleep and head north.
