West End, Grand Bahamas

Today we needed a change of scenery from the marina.  So we headed to the west end of the island.  After stopping at the pharmacy for Sudafed (still can't hear) and the post office we drove to Paradise Cove.  Highly recommended for snorkeling with the turtles, we were excited.

We arrived at low tide and after a safety briefing

(where to step and not step) we were off.

A single turtle.  Apparently high tide is better for viewing.

We are much better at snorkeling after our scuba diving lessons!

Paradise cove does a lot of artificial reef ball insertions.  They can be adopted!

The west end was similar to the east end of the island in that there are dozens of abandoned properties.

There are dozens of piles of empty conch shells lining the shore.
                                            Yes, I grabbed a couple!

Not sure what these crates are for but they also lined the
shallow shore of the west end.

We stopped for our picnic lunch alongside the ocean.

Pinder's Point Lighthouse was a short stop.

Dinner at Pisces Restaurant.  Highly recommended for their seafood pizza.  It did not disappoint!  Outside dining, impeccable service and tasty food - awesome.
