Fort Matanzas

As the sun was rising this morning we were already on our way.  I could not believe how hot it already seemed and hoped once we were truly moving we would have a breeze.  A gorgeous sunrise and calm waters as we headed under the 4 bridges that cross the ICW from Daytona to Ormond.

The water remained calm with only short bursts of wind.

And the chaos started just as we were entering Matanzas.

We both forgot it was a holiday and there were lots of boats, jet skis, kayaks and fishing.  Just short of 40 miles we made good time and arrived at our "spot" by early afternoon.  Anchoring near the fort was quick (We have truly mastered that skill!) and we headed inside for lunch.  With a nice breeze through the hatches we ate and were dozing by 2pm.  By 3pm the crazy boat people were zooming home causing almost a constant wake rocking us.  Nothing sends everyone scurrying like lightning!

The storm moved through quick and we are now enjoying a cooler night with a nice breeze.

The plan - head to St Augustine in the late morning.
