Bison Month and I Forgot Day
July is National Bison month. We were fortunate to visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Anchorage, Alaska in 2014. The bison were plentiful and in a large sanctuary surrounded by fencing with signs to not approach close and not to try to entice the animals. We watched as a dumb tourist went directly up to the fence and tried "calling" them for a better photo op. When the bison charged the fence, he jumped back quickly, dropped his phone in the water as karma kicked in. Very memorable. Do Not Harass the Bison!
This morning I spent painting the first wall of the basement.
It makes a huge difference! Of course I did the easy wall first - only one set of shelves and minimal debris/boxes in my way. But it still feels good to be painting again. (I find it very relaxing.)
What was not relaxing was the trip we made to the stupid market. I forgot (It's also I Forgot Day!) it was the beginning of the month and somehow did not realize everyone would be shopping for the holiday and the kids are out of school! All makes for chaos, screaming children, crowded aisles and long lines. But we finished and filled our new fridge.
Maureen, Isis' grammie, cooked dinner (Meatloaf with gravy - Paul was loving the "real" meat!), so I had time for a quick nap. Then I began prepping for the 4th. Brownies, cookies, potato salad and watermelon are all set to go.
The days are flying by as I expected they would as we work together as a family to settle the kids.
