Down (Not Out)

Before and after the big take down of the "ugly" shed.

Only one bolt removed and down it came - way faster than anticipated.  Paul moved quick but still wound up getting bruised.  His turn for a quick trip to the ER.  Super experience with polite, efficient and professional people.  Christina was our triage nurse (go figure!).  Free coffee fixed to my liking and offers of food (declined).

A very low key experience with a few films, really nice staff and even a new shirt!  Having had my share of icky trips and experiences and it was strange to be on the other side of the stretcher.  Thankfully with motrin, long soaks in the jacuzzi and rest, Paul will be back to "normal" shortly.

I remember when Louis retired and I was still working in the ER at Memorial.  Not retired a week yet and he tried to cut off his thumb with a saw.

And my emergency room visits:

Miriam ER June 2018.  I awoke with cramps and ignored them.  I went about my daily business.  At the bank I thought hmm, I might throw up.  Dash home.  Cramps now pain.  Have Scott call Paul at work to come home immediately.  By the time he arrives in 20 minutes I am in agony.  Forget rescue - they might take me to Landmark!  Have Paul drive me to Miriam while I thrash about in car.  Have rescue people help me out of car at hospital into wheelchair.  That is when I realized I had no shoes on and my feet were filthy from working in the barn, tank top with no bra and PJ bottoms.  Get yelled at by registration/triage to "get behind the line".  Pass out in the waiting room.  Have emergency appendectomy surgery.

Walk in November 2016:  Get thrown off Rupert when car spooks him on Pine Road.  Tuck and roll but panic when large rock in sight and splay arms out.  Limp home where Rupert had returned to the barn and everyone was in the house clueless.  Head to walk in where 13 x-rays later, I have broken a rib.  Everything else on my left side  - contusions.  I "healed" in Hawaii when we flew out later that week.

Jacksonville 2024:  The world would not stop spinning.  From a walk in to the ER by rescue and diagnosed with vertigo.  Thankfully, I have had no further events.

St Mary's, West Palm Beach May 2025:  What I thought was strep thought was bilateral ear infection.

We are blessed that all injuries and illnesses have been temporary and we have been able to continue living our best life!
