Overdue Yard Work
Sleeping under blankets - priceless. The air up here is crisp, clear and totally rejuvenating! The quiet - intense. Home, sweet home. We awakened with purpose and energy!
We spent the day outside. Our 34+ year old lawnmower - still going strong! I cut the mid thigh high grass while Paul began the odious task of emptying the "ugly" shed.
Our driveway was originally shale back in 1991! Now it's more grass the stone and requires cutting!Looking out from the garage walk in door, the wood shed to the right (Still quite full thankfully!), the "ugly" shed in the background (originally built as a horse shelter with add-ons) and the back deck to the left.
The back deck built during the summer of 2020. It's the best place to nap in the afternoon in my zero gravity chair! (Thank you mom!)
The "ugly" shed with 3 snowmobiles (only 2 work), a 4 wheeler, a 19 ft boat and a kayak trailer, all jammed tightly together and mostly out of the weather. The shed is being dismantled to make room for a garage. With us spending more time here during hurricane season, Paul needs a dedicated work space and I need to pull my car in the house garage, (Has never happened.)
And just outside the garage door and under the front porch - some creature has moved in and displaced a fair amount of debris. Looks to be on the larger side since the opening is huge, but we haven't seen our new tenant. (Eviction is imminent!)
Two hours later, the lawn is 85% complete. I did not run down the edge of the street or weed-wack - tomorrow is another day.
Two of the snowmobiles were relocated to a trailer in the front yard. The one that ran - easy peasy. The other required the come-along and lots of muscle.
The boat has been relocated directly in front of the garage door and hopefully out of the way for the equipment coming in to do the site work for the new garage.
The antique sled has brought tons of fun for the very low price of $250! (2013 maybe?)
Countless hours they spent circling the house and yard. A few trees got banged (even the porch steps once) but this little sled has been perfect. I can understand why he is having a hard time letting it go.
