Progress at Rangeley Homestead
Our Rangeley recliner history:
We were very broke while building the house and raising the kids, so when we were offered chairs (or really anything!) - we always took them.
The first was large flowered and from Memere Adam.
Paul with Kevin and MeganThe chair came with a matching love seat that was a sleep sofa. (Unfortunately the mice really loved that feature and we wound up having to remove it from the house.)
Then a neutral brown:
Me (Scott was taking pictures randomly)Our first task this morning - the Rangeley Transfer station to donate the gold recliner. It passed the inspection of the facilities guy and into the bargain barn it went! Actually all of them were able to be passed on.
The transfer station is a bit different than RIRRC. Definitely not as many people but just as organized.
From left to right: The blue building is for deposit cans and bottles. The firefighters exchange them and use them for good deeds around town - scholarships for graduating seniors, Santa gifts at the annual Christmas festivities and numerous other positive steps to help the community.
The electronic shed x 2.
The bargain barn where our gold chair went. Inside items vary from books, clothing, small furniture items, kitchen, bathroom items and what nots! All free. Drop off or pick up something. Always an interesting side trip.
The appliance building - fridges, stoves, etc.:
Construction debris into the brown building and metal trash to the left.
Garbage goes into the bin where all the cars/trucks are backed up to while small aluminum and metal goes in the barrels in the middle of the photo and all other recycles (paper, plastic, cardboard) goes into the green container to be crushed.
Finally in the back of the lot - all yard debris is burned on certain days during certain hours.
They have come a long way from when the "dump" was on Route 4 and a frequent night activity was watching the bears scour for goodies!
On the way back to the house we stopped at the construction yard and met Seth. Nice guy with promises to send someone out this week to assess our site needs and formulate a quote. Really cool office - check out the chair!
And then we could delay no longer. Back to the house to start tasks. Washer hookup - check (after a small delay). Clothesline - check. Grill back on deck - check.
Once the shed was totally empty, Paul started taking off the sections of metal roof. I was ground support. (Throwing up necessary tools, taking sections and stacking them out of the way, providing refreshments, holding the ladder occasionally)
We made good progress in the dismantling of "ugly" shed. The weather continues to look beautiful for the next few days - 60s and sunny. Perfect for outside work.
