Adult Day

"Can you take Brianna to gymnastics?", said TJ.

"Is it a drop off?", I asked.

"No."

"How long is the class?"

"An hour and half."

"Okay".  I took a book.

So after cutting their lawn and getting nice and sweaty and covered in dust and green trimmings, I headed out with Brianna.  Upon entering the gym I was asked if I was participating in "Adult Day".

"Thank you, no."

And then Brianna gave me all the reasons I should join her.

    "It's easy."

    "It's exercise."

    "You can do it."

    "Just listen to the teacher."

    "I'll show you how."

"What you have on is okay."

    "You can be barefoot."

Yup, so I did it.  I signed the waiver and entered the gym with the other "adults".  Adults meaning young parents - all other grandparents were on the stools observing!

Brianna doing her version of jumping jacks.

Stretching - easy peasy.

Jumping jacks - okay.  (Wish I had visited the ladies' room but okay.)

Somersault - I landed off the mat onto the soft floor.  One and done on that mat.

Handstand - nope.  Didn't even try.

Cartwheel/round off - one and done.

Pirouette - I tried but couldn't pull it off.  (I think the dirt on my feet caused me to stick to the mat.)

Straight jumps - nailed it.

Kick your butt jumps (Called something else but I can't recall) - okay.

Tuck jumps - one and done.

Flying somersault onto the mat - one and done.

Balance beam - okay with forward, backward, mini jumps and leaps (on the lowest beam)

                        - passed on the handstands and cartwheels and the high beam jump off

I wound up having a great time and Brianna was very sweet with my attempts.  (At one point she even asked the teacher if she could make the skills easier for her Nana.)

And then we did a science experiment making green slimy glow in the dark worms.  Measuring and following directions and presto - glow in the dark something.

Needless to say I was grateful for quiet time today.  I definitely needed a recharge.

Thank you Brianna for getting me out of my box today!
