Weird

National Middle Child Day.  If you are looking for super funny (and fairly accurate) middle child behavior - TJ Therrian on Facebook.  Just saying.  Check out "packing for vacation" and "loading the dishwasher"!!  Whenever I need a light moment - this is my go to.  Love you to pieces Kevin!

Today was weird.  A mammogram early - get it out of the way and not think about it anymore.  Visiting Women and Infants as a patient is always weird.  I still know enough people that I was in and out quickly but I prefer not to be recognized.  My career as a supervisor there lasted almost 5 years.  Tough job.  Every time the technician comes out and says you're good, I feel blessed.  I cannot imagine not getting a different kind of report.

Then my watch.  I have had the same watch for a few years.  I wore it scuba diving to 60 feet - no problem.  Then I broke the band.  Paul ordered me a new watch and it lasted only a few days.  How?  Apparently when I was in the jacuzzi it dysfunctioned.  So it will be returned.  In the meantime my old watch (which worked but had no band) was in the trash.  As a holiday week the trash was still available.  Do Paul dug through it, found my old watch which easily charged and still works.  A new watch is on its way as is a new band.  So I will have two functioning watches.  Weird how that worked out.

Brianna needed a quick "sitter".  Great.  We are available.  She tried to "teach" me how to read her worksheets by "sounding it out".  She quickly got frustrated with me because I would not read the words or do her work.  After several attempts to get me to do her work - she finagled Rebecca into helping her.  (Sorry Rebecca.  I am terrible at being an enabler.)

Looking back on previous August 12 adventures:

In 2007 we kayaked Shackleford Banks to see the wild horses.  Pretty cool to watch them drink sea water.  And they allowed us to paddle fairly close.

In 2014 flying in the small plane over Mount McKinley in Alaska - priceless.  This was the year we became the 30 percenters.  Apparently the sun only shines 30% of the time.  It shone for us.  Every day.  For two weeks.  Hence we are in the 30%.

Weird.  Priceless.  Mundane.  I will take everything and anything.  Because I never know what the day will bring.  And that is awesome!
