Town Trip
The forecast? Rain ending soon. So I headed outside to clean up the strewn branches and debris so we could chip. By the time my pile was high and the front yard "clean", a nice steady rain was in progress. New forecast? Rain all day.
New plan. We spent the day in the basement. Paul cut me dozens of new wooden discs while I continued stripping and sanding Memere Adam's hope chest.
And by mid afternoon - cabin fever. So we headed to town. First the library. Our building permit needs to printed. We brought a printer up from RI but, no router = no connection to print.
Built in 1909 with additional space added in 2002, it has been useful through the years. Before cell phones and hot spots, we could utilize their internet for homework. Sometimes, just sitting in front of during closed hours and getting it done. For more history:

Today Paul managed to print our permit (and is now laminated and to be placed in a "prominent" location).
Then onto the hardware store for bolts. Our back deck has grates for the snow to fall through. One has decided not to stay flush. The answer - bolts.
Built in 1983 and growing steady. Prices are of course a bit higher than RI but they almost always have what we need!A stop at the dock to check out the lake.
Stunning even on this gray, damp, October day!
And our last stop - IGA.
We really do try to avoid stopping here because of their obscene prices. But we needed bread and milk. The original grocery store was tiny and right in the heart of Main Street but moved sometime around 1994 to its present location up the hill and away from the congestion. Clean, spacious and a wider variety of items with a large parking lot are their redeeming qualities. Still, we avoid.
The plan - wait for dry weather and Mike to return.
