Tree Down

We were enjoying morning coffee when Mike showed up!  The tree came down really fast!  After positioning the arm of the excavator against the house side of the tree, he began cutting with the chainsaw.  A mere few inches in and ants!  The tree, despite how it looked, was rotted!  So glad we made the decision to have it removed!

The stump was easily broken down and there

was no septic system encroachment, thankfully!

He continued taking the tree apart, making dump runs and bringing in material leveling off the site.

Mike also made me a new stone wall protecting
our septic system from inadvertent drivers.

The snowmobile shed now is a drive down instead of drive up.

The whole area seems much lighter and open.

Same view less than a week ago.

I, meanwhile, painted wooden discs (final product to be shown at a later date), a bit of cleaning, a batch of laundry, and a batch of peanut butter cookies.

Paul sorted through our mail.  Somehow when I was packing, the mail wound up in the same bag as old newspapers.  So, our "new" debit cards were now expired and had to be reset.  And he arranged to have my Cutco knife mailed back for sharpening.  (Another trip to the library for a print job is in our near future.)  Our windows are selected and waiting for a delivery window to be favorable.  And keeping the wood stove burning and the woodring full - constant today with the high only 46 degrees.

And he relegated sketchy ladder to the kindling pile:(

The plan - Mike will be back in the morning with more material while we wait for Jim to arrive with the insulation.
