Done Delivery!
It turned into a very long morning waiting. Between phone calls, emails and texts Paul tried to coordinate everything. But someone dropped the ball. After being told the truck was still in Burnham, Maine at 2pm we knew it was going to turn into a long evening. With the sun setting at 4pm here in the mountains, it is dark by 415pm. Burnham is at least two hours away. So, we began expecting a 4p delivery. Ugh.
Then we receive a phone call (at 245pm!) - the driver is at the end of the driveway and needs assistance. What?!? Paul quickly called Bodin (one of the two guys hired to unload) and set out to help the driver. Thankfully Blueberry Hill Farm has a great wide area to turn the 18 wheeler around. Bodin and his coworker arrived shortly afterwards.
Then the fun began. Drive the lift to the road, load, back towards our garage then head to the site to unload. We were allotted two hours to unload. 18 loads and 2 1/2 hours later, we were done. It helped that Mike H showed up and jumped into driving the lift (he was way faster!). He also brought Mike K (I think everyone here in the construction business is called Mike!) who apparently has experience with these buildings. (I think we have become the main topic of conversation fodder for the town!) I am ready to fight if they try to charge for the extra time it took to unload. It was dark and safety was a priority. Besides Paul has recently misplaced his VISA and has been issued a new one. Let them try to charge the old one!
Paul and second worker (no name known?) guide the wide loadsbetween the trees and wood shed. Some loads had to be twisted perpendicular.
I, in the meantime, fixed another braided rug, started dinner, finished a book, listened to music, did a bit of cleaning and forgot to maintain the fire. Overall, a very successful day.
Tomorrow we build!!!
