Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!  I hope everyone is enjoying their day and being with loved ones.  I am grateful we had such an awesome dinner last Saturday.  Tonight we had (leftover) turkey soup that simmered all day in the crock pot while we worked outside.  I am grateful the sun was shining for most of the day and the dusting of snow from overnight melted.

To install the framing for the windows, holes needed to be drilled into the girts at precisely measured locations.  All measurements - correct.  Installing the frames - only one was initially, accidently installed upside down and required flipping.

The windows fits perfectly and will be stored inside and secured in place later (after the risk of breakage is minimal).  Success!

And then because we were feeling good about our progress and apparently energetic after lunch - we attempted the install of the rear eve struts.  Each strut needs to be raised to the lowest part of the roof rafters where each roof panel will then be attached.

The back wall of the garage requires two eave struts.
The right side required a bit of finessing and figuring out
how to raise the 78 pounds between us while each climbing a
ladder and then lifting over our heads and bolting into place.  After
a couple false starts we managed the final fit.

The left side went much quicker since we knew
how to lift, hold and then secure the strut in addition
to where to best place the ladders.

My bird's eye view from the ladder on the far corner of the roof.

Success!  Both rear eave struts are up and secure before sunset.

And I am grateful for long hot showers and hot soup ready to eat!  Though the sun was out, so was the wind.  The temperature never rose above 34 and the feel like - mid 20s.  It was a two sweatshirt day and gloves to handle the very cold steel.  (I also had the hoods up and covering my ears.)

I am also grateful that although we joke about "wheelchair" days, we continue to push our limits and surprise ourselves - our strength and agility have not failed us yet!
