Let It Snow!

Another day that went sideways.  Based on the forecast I read early this morning with my coffee, my plan was to paint the front porch once the stairs dried from the dew.  I pulled the rugs in and swept the leaves away in preparation.  Nope - it started raining followed by heavy wet snow showers.  No outside painting today.

Then the phone call from Colorado and our garage delivery is being delayed by a week.  This is certainly not ideal since the weather has already started being colder and wetter than desired.  At this time we are waiting for a response to our email requesting some type of compensation and the possibility of waiting for a late spring delivery.

Paul has finally started fabricating a wood mantel.  In the plans since we built the house (1990!), it has finally made it to the top of our list.  Prior to putting the first coat of urethane on the bottom of the shelf, I attempted to vacuum the sawdust off the floor.  Nope - there was no filter in the vacuum causing the dust to spread throughout the entire basement.  Ugh!  But I do love the color!  Thank you Scott for the wood!

                Before                                                                                After

In between finishing the two books I had started, I was bored enough to scrub the legs on the kitchen table and chairs, move the stove away from the wall and wash everything behind it and straighten out the pile of games.  (I even retaped the broken edges of the boxes together!)

A long hot shower and I started reading my Florida Keys book in anticipation of a great sailing season!

The plan - relax, enjoy the warm fire and quiet.  Start a new book.  Put additional coats on the new mantel.  Come up with a alternative, tentative plan if the garage is postponed until spring.
