Painting and Ponies
Our first task today - straighten out the basement. With a man door, 2 windows and a 16 foot garage door being stored inside, space is at a premium. We have tucked everything out of the way best we can for now. After a trip to the dump on Monday, and winterizing the water filtration system, the remaining "tucking" can occur.
And with my daily trip of bringing in firewood, I managed to "break" the wheelbarrow. But Paul fashioned a new bracket and our 35 year old wheelbarrow is good again!
Meanwhile, I baked chocolate chip banana bread, croutons, dip and BBQ ribs. In between I tried my hand at painting rocks and am still experimenting with acrylic paints.
National Day of the Horse. When booking vacations and excursions, we always tried to choose activities that allowed us to experience new and "out of the box". Horseback riding was one of our favorites!
Pamlico Sound, North Carolina 2007:
Me and Megan on a sunset ride on the beach. The wild horses were drinking sea water and eating sea grass
with seeming indifference that our kayaks were so close to them.
(Yes, we were in them!)

These were very well trained trail horses that went up and down skinny, rocky, steep trails with calmness and sure steps!
Technically mules but close enough! These animals did not
care about the narrow, rocky trails or how close we were to the
edge! (I was nervous!)
The plan - continue to "close" the house and prepare for a Tuesday departure. Continue to try to beat Paul at Backgammon (I did win one today!).
