Snow Day

They got it wrong again!  Again!  Weather forecast = less than 0.3 inches of snow beginning at noon.  By the time the sun rose this morning - fine snow coming down fast and collecting.  Paul immediately texted Mike H and cancelled the roof work.  They can work in the cold.  Work in the wind.  But definitely not with snow coming down.  Metal roof panels are slippery on a clear day.  So we had another snow day!  Total so far, 4 inches and still snowing!

First though we needed to clear out room in the basement for the garage door.  Delivery was scheduled for today (no show though).  And we needed to clear out in front of the garage door which meant moving the boat (again).  The plan is to make a final move into the new garage once the roof is in place.  Where we parked it now, the plow has no place to push our snow.  Ugh!

My project for the day - complicated.  When I added the down comforter to our bed, I washed and dried our "summer" quilt.  Only the floss holding the batting in place - let go.  I wound up with a quilt with a ball of batting in one corner.  So I opened it up, spread out the batting and began "requilting".

I used my "vintage" 1970s Singer sewing machine (Thank you Nancy!).

Similar to mine but not quite.  I did spend a considerable amount of my time learning how to load the bobbin, run the thread and change the stitching.  (I also spent a considerable amount of time swearing!)  I have completed about half of the new "quilting".

Backgammon (Paul is the champion!) and a new book filled part of the day.

Fenway is not fond of the cold.  He goes out but will not stay outside!  He has figured out if he runs under the porch or boat, there is less snow.  He does his thing quick, quick and then waits at the door for us.

The weather predicted for tomorrow - cold, no wind and no precipitation.  We'll see.
