Kaukokaipuu

Word of the day - Kaukokaipuu.   A Finnish word that means a longing for distant places yet unseen.  A wanderlust shaped as both curiosity and yearning.  (And I just found out that Lake Worth has a high Finnish population and even an American Finnish Club - go figure!)

Even the birds have huddled for warmth!

It seems we cannot escape the cold.  This morning - 35 degrees.  The high - 51!  Though I wore flip flops to the boat, I had to find socks to walk around since the floors were horribly cold.

Today I:

    1.    Unpacked all the pantry items purchased yesterday and organized everything.

    2.    Wiped down the interior of the dinghy after helping Paul lower it to the ground and removing the tarp.  And good news - the raccoons were not only absent, there was no evidence they had even visited!

    3.    Took inventory of all cleaning supplies (looks like we have plenty!).

Meanwhile Paul:

    1.    Charged the dinghy battery and the starboard engine.

    2.    Spoke with the yard crew regarding the need for electrical work up the mast.

    3.    Attempted to locate the electrical problem without success.

    4.    Filled the dinghy tank with gas.

    5.    Unwrapped the sails and discovered the raccoons had checked out the mainsail.  Dirty but no damage.

    5.    Spoke with the yard crew and dock master again.  Found out we were not even on the schedule for launching.  What?!?  So our new splash date - Wednesday afternoon.

    6.    Extended our hotel stay.

The dinghy lowered for easy access and cleaning.

National Boston Day.  Boston is one of my favorite cities.  The Aquarium, Children's Museum and whale watch cruises.  Lots of visits with tons of fun!
