Flamingo Gardens

Today's adventure took us to Flamingo World in Davie, Florida - "just" down the street.  What began as a citrus grove in 1925 is now a botanical garden and wildlife refuge.  Beautifully done with plenty of winding paths and even a tram with a narrated tour for the back 35 acres.

                                                            Muscovy duck

Ibis eating out of Paul's hand.  We had bought flamingo
food but the flamingos were not interested.

Egyptian Goose - a first for me!

                                                    Peacocks everywhere

                                                            River otters

A very large adult green iguana

                                                            Desert tortoise

A freshwater turtle doing what appears to be some type of yoga.

There were also an incredible amount of varying trees, bushes, and flowers.  Birds including toucans, hawks of many varieties, macaws and eagles.  Alligators, bobcats and panthers.  Well worth the admission price (and yes we have started enjoying the senior discounts!).

And the original second home of the Wrays.  The original owners of the grove turned garden.

Pepto bismol pink and green - the trend at the time.

The plan - more of Fort lauderdale!
