Hillsboro Inlet

This morning we were out the door by 830am looking to experience something new.  Being a Saturday with beautiful weather predicted, we were aiming to avoid large crowds.  We headed north on A1A along the coast.

Our first stop was CVS but although the store itself was open, the pharmacy hours do not begin until 9am.  So we moved along.  As we headed north we came across another CVS and since it was after 9am, Paul attempted to grab his prescription eye medication again.  Nope.  This pharmacy hours start at 10am.  Talk about "banker's hours"!

Our first real stop was Hillsboro Inlet.  A cute little park just south of the drawbridge was perfect for wandering.  Parking was only $2, bathrooms were clean, and the view was perfect.  We watched a few smaller boats navigate the treacherous waters until the dark clouds released fat drops.

(Just 9 days ago we were on the other side of the inlet passing by on the ICW.)

With the windows down, enjoying the brisk breeze from the ocean, we meandered north enjoying the almost empty roads.  Most of this stretch is built up with McMansions and condos leaving little room for public access to the beaches.  The few outlets we noticed lacked parking.  The parking we did notice was exorbitant.

We began seeing more joggers, bicyclists and beach goers just before 1030am.

Red Reef Park in Boca Raton was our second stop.  But after politely asking if the price of admission was really $35 and being told that it was actually $50 (weekend and holiday rate), we did an abrupt u-turn.    Thanks but no thanks!

We turned south in Lantana and headed back to Fort Lauderdale.  The people of southern Florida have awakened and the streets are clogging.  Time to get off the road!

By mid afternoon we were back at the house relaxing and enjoying the quiet.

The plan - enjoy a quiet Sunday in Fort Lauderdale.  Activity TBD!
