Bugs, Beaches and Friends

Today I was determined to get at least 10,000 steps in.  After two very long days in the car and barely 7000 steps between both days, I needed to be moving.

So, after breakfast (good thing they serve until 10am since we slept until almost 9am!) we walked around the hotel parking lot and the small surrounding neighborhood.  Lots of little furry creatures underfoot.  Spring has definitely sprung here.

Then onward south.  First stop - Varn Park in Flagler Beach.

Minimal clouds, bright sun, temperatures edging towards 80 degrees and almost 1030 am on a Saturday of a long weekend.  Where are all the people?  Made for a great 2+ mile walk.

We found people! In downtown Flagler everyone was eating and
drinking at the numerous cafes and restaurants.

And then there were none.  We had the road south to ourselves.

Until Daytona that is.  Lots of people there enjoying a brilliant Saturday.

And Menard-May Park in Edgewater - super crowded.

A coffee break on the Indian River at Rotary Riverfront Park in Titusville.

Over the NASA Causeway Bridge.

Then a stop at Seagull Park and a quick walk on the sand.
So much of the foliage has suffered from the winter's frost.

We found Fred trying to devour a crab.

Then an early dinner with friends at Cadillac Cove in Satellite Beach.  Great atmosphere, good food, honest wait staff (our waiter took the blame for Paul's missing chicken on his salad), lots of laughs and a perfect location.  A definite return if we are ever in the area again.

We landed in Port St Lucie for the night.  Of course the pouring rain began just as we were pulling in.  Unwilling to wait the 36 minutes Siri said the rain would last, we managed to unload and settle.  We have unlimited access to hot showers, so what's wrong with being soaking wet.

And I managed 9200+ steps!

The plan - early departure for Fort Lauderdale.
