Downtown Rangeley
This afternoon we ventured into town hoping the majority of the tourists have either headed south or are entertaining themselves elsewhere.
First stop - the post office. Paul had ordered from Ebay but forgot to put our PO box number on the delivery address. It was being sent back to sender. Maybe we could catch it. But they were out to lunch.
Okay onto the dump. Found some tourists but successfully rid ourselves of stinky trash, donated our cans and found books and a new light fixture at the Bargain Barn.
Back to the post office which required a u-turn (#1). Paul proceeded to be scolded for not including the PO box number but they still had it!
Next stop IGA. U-turn again (#2). Wait! What is that headed down the road? U-turn (#3).
She was cantering down the road without a care in the world.
Okay back on track to IGA. U-turn (#4).
A quick detour by the boat landing.
And the three barges from the firework display on the 3rd are still floating. Unbeknownst to us on the night of the fireworks the finale never occurred because 2 of the 3 barges began burning. Good show anyway.IGA was uneventful with a very chipper associate ringing us out.
A successful trip to town with lots to see!
This morning's tasks were also very successful.
Paul finished digging the trench while I backfilled with gravel then dirt.
Done!
July 6, 2000: We had taken the kids to Newport to see the Tall Ships. A very hot day with crowds of people and ships that all resembled one another. Newport is pretty though and the kids had fun in the park.
Word of the day - kuchisabishii. Japanese. Meaning when you're not hungry, but you eat because you're mouth is lonely.
